Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula – Blossom Day – May 16, 2015

A Celebration of Blossoms, Beauty and Bounty on Old Mission Peninsula

Saturday, May 16, 2015

Bring on spring! On Old Mission Peninsula, that means new wine releases. Relish samples of WOMP’s newest vintages, as well as spring’s arrival to Old Mission Peninsula. The wineries invite you to a day of tasting their new releases while enjoying fresh, spring-inspired food pairings. Several stops will even offer a chance to chat with WOMP winemakers about the grape-to-glass winemaking process, as well as offering limited barrel and tank tastings. (Try them before they’re ready to bottle!) It’s been a cold, cold winter. Thaw out with WOMP!

There are transportation companies which you may hire separately from the event, but most guests simply drive themselves. The entire peninsula is only 19 miles long and five miles at its widest, so all wineries are within a just a few miles of each other. Click here for a list of transport companies if you’d like to hire a shuttle tour.

Tickets are available online here for $25 per person, plus processing.

Food For Thought – Green Cuisine – July 16, 2014

Green Cuisine is Michigan’s first zero waste event and an expression of our mission to “raise awareness around just and sustainable food systems” and our best effort to promote the best in local food and sustainable business practices. Visitors will be able to meet and sample the works of local food and beverage artisans, tour Food For Thought’s organic farm and green buildings as well as socialize, learn and have fun in a beautiful setting. We also have a “green lifestyles” tent where you can learn about other green local products and services.

In line with that philosophy, this is a “zero-waste” event. As in all things sustainable, “zero-waste” is a process, not a destination. The goal is for all the waste generated from the event to be either reusable, recyclable or compostable. In year’s past we’ve had up to 1000 visitors and generated less than 7 ounces of waste! We accomplish this, in part, by composting 100% of our food and paper waste here on the farm. By attending you can observe all our other green tricks we perfected over the years.

It’s free! This is important to us because Green Cuisine is about promoting our partners in the local food and lifestyle businesses. All our artisans volunteer their time and a lot of their product to make this happen. So in exchange we do require your contact information in order that we can share that with the “vendors and sponsors only.” In addition we have some generous underwriters that help us cover part of the cost. Food For Thought picks up the balance. Please consider helping us out with a donation if you are able to do so. You will be given a name badge at the event identifying you as a sponsor so that we can thank you personally.
Please, No Pets!!
